The part that only guides
An idler pulley does one job: it routes the belt. Mounted on a fixed bracket, it changes the belt's direction or extends its wrap around another pulley, and it spins on its own bearing while doing it. The catalogue's tension pulley line is this series — guide wheels and idler wheels for belt drives.
Why idlers are replaced on bearing wear
An idler has no adjustment and no spring; it is replaced when its bearing runs rough, noisy or dry. Because several idlers can share one drive, workshops replace the set while the belt is off, and inquiries for this series often list two or three positions from the same engine.

| Not this part | Tensioners, which apply the tension |
Smooth or grooved face
An idler's face follows the belt side it touches: grooved where it runs on the belt's ribbed face, smooth where it rides the back. Stating which face the old pulley has is the quickest check on a position-by-position order.
Ordering with the tensioner
Idlers and the tensioner are one drive's wear set. The series pages cross-reference each other so a single inquiry can carry the whole set, priced line by line.
